Thank Your Lucky Stars ~ Simon Says Monday Challenge

Hello friends and Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and you're ready for the week ahead! Because today is St Patrick's Day, the fun new challenge over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog is called...Just My Luck!! So how will you interpret this challenge? Have you found a lucky rainbow and a pot of gold? Do you feel that today is your lucky day? Or like me, do you just thank your lucky stars for all the good things that happen?

As always, I hope you love what I've made...
...and here's how I made it!!
To begin with, I used the fabulous Sizzix Stacked Stars die from Tim Holtz to die cut my stars from card which I then covered with Tissue Wrap before painting them with Peacock Feathers Distress Paint. But for the largest star, the one that shines above all others, I used Peacock Feathers Distress Glitter to cover the surface.
All the stars were then edged with gold paint to give them a distressed look. The next part was the fun part, I wanted to make a cluster of these stars and so, I got to work to make them dimensional by attaching them to sticks. Some of them, I made 3D and others I left as flat stars but they were all clustered together and tied with a shabby bow, hand dyed using Mustard Seed and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Stains. Once that was completed, I set about making my background...
I started by die cutting a piece of Manila card using the On The Edge Torn Notebook die to create the decorative top. I then inked the card by "swooshing" it through some Brushed Corduroy, Vintage Photo and Antiqued Bronze Distress Stains, spritzed with water on my craft sheet. Once I was happy with the colour, I added a small amount of Peacock Feathers and then inked through the Dot Fade Layering Stencil and randomly stamped some text with Potting Soil Archival Ink.

I set that aside before creating my tag. I chose a size 8 Manila tag, stained with Mustard Seed and Wild Honey Distress Stains and then stamped the text background from the Papillon stamp set over the top, before embossing it with clear powder. I then inked the edges with Walnut Stain, popped a Clock Key through the top of the tag and attached the tag to my background.
I attached a piece of Film Ribbon and then added the cluster of stars across the centre. The next part was to create the little stack of stars with the pointy finger and for this, I used the Stacked Stars die to die cut more stars and covered some as I had previously and then painted them with Mustard Seed and Peacock Feathers Distress Paint and for the others, I used Metal Foil tape over Grungeboard and then inked these with Alcohol Ink.
I grouped the stars together with the die cut pointy finger, painted with Distress Paints and then placed a Mirrored Star on the finger before adding my Thank Your Lucky Stars text made up from Chit Chat stickers and stamps from the Hashtag set. Finally I painted the Seven from the Alpha Parts set using Peacock Feathers and Picket Fence Distress Paint and added this to my background.

I really hope you loved my cluster of stars and for more great ideas and inspiration, then look no further than the blog to see all the wonderful creations from my very talented Design Team members. Every week, one lucky random participant has the chance to win a $50 gift voucher from Simon Says Stamp. Good luck....
